Even forming the team in the first place you won't have optimal teams because they don't spawn like that in the stagecoach. If your hero gets warrens tactician but you have her in your weald team that's an awesome quirk wasted. If someone on a team without graverobber or plague doctor gets a disease you are forced to use the sanitarium instead of the free camping skill. If someone in your team gets stressed out you are completely barred from going into that location next week no matter how great the rewards are.

If someone dies your team is screwed up. If you have location specific teams you will have sub-optimal teams for the bosses, are you really not mixing people for the bosses? If you are your team members will at some point be different level. It really isn't even more convenient for many reasons. But I agree it's not better, just much more convenient.
